This is how I choose to remember the World Trade Center in NYC. Before it came to symbolize death and terror on 9/11 it symbolized the vibrant daily life of we who lived there. It was a place we visited often and enjoyed.
When I recall the horror of watching the attack live and the footage of people jumping out of the buildings…the death toll climbing…and the stench of the buildings burning for well over a month afterwards, I must also remember the resiliency of the human spirit. This old snapshot of my husband and oldest son in front of one of the WTC towers reminds me of that.
